our philosophy

Katherine Fraser Dance was established to provide quality dance training to students as an enjoyable, healthy extra curricular activity. At Katherine Fraser Dance we are committed to creating a happy, nurturing and interesting environment in which students are assisted to reach their full potential while experiencing the pleasure of successfully mastering the disciplines of dance.

Pre-School Dance

Cygnets Ballet and Jazz Bunnies are a fun introduction to Ballet and Jazz. The emphasis is on developing each child’s innate creativity while developing rhythm, coordination, balance and listening skills in an engaging way.

Classical Ballet

Classical ballet is the cornerstone of all dance technique. It establishes correct posture, develops core strength, coordination and control as well developing artistic expression. It also builds confidence to perform alone and within a group.

Contemporary and Lyrical Dance

Contemporary dance uses abstract movements to produce interesting dance routines. Lyrical dance may encompass elements of both Classical and Contemporary dance genre. A level of Classical technique and core control is needed for these styles.

Jazz Dance

Jazz dance uses syncopated movements to create up beat and high intensity dance routines. It may be studied as a singular discipline or as a freer additional style for students learning Classical Ballet. and Contemporary dance.

Katherine Drewe-Fraser, the studio owner, has studied dance with some of the world’s foremost teachers and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Dance (Teaching) from the Victorian College of the Arts and a Master of Teaching (Dance) from the University of Surrey. In 2018, Katherine was admitted to the Royal Academy of Dance (London) International Panel of Examiners. Her passion is empowering students through dance.

We stage an annual performance to showcase the work that our students have learnt throughout the year. This allows our students to perform in a professionally staged performance and the wider community to see what wonderful things can be achieved.

Students studying Classical ballet are offered the opportunity to enter Royal Academy of Dance Assessments each year. Depending on each student’s level of commitment, progress and personal preference students may choose between a Class Award Assessment, an Examination or a Solo Performance Award.

Students are also able to learn solo, duo and group pieces for public performances. At Katherine Fraser Dance we believe it is important to be a full member of the community. We enjoy performing at Aged Care Facilities to bring the joy of dance to everyone.
